A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

Forgive me if this has been discussed before (I'm sure it has!)

I'm teaching a 2 day 'tech camp' for school librarians this weekend and I'd like to share with them what people find are their most used/most helpful 2.0 tools.

Also hoping some of them will join this group!

Thanks a bunch.

Hi Polly,

I came across an interesting 2.0 tool lately that I have added to the library website of my school. Pageflakes.

I saw my first example of Pageflakes at the Dublin City Libraries and Archives: http://www.pageflakes.com/dublincitypubliclibraries/

I then created something for the students of my school: http://www.pageflakes.com/langleysecondary/18824625

Hi Richard, thanks for the link to your pageflakes pages. Great to see how people are using it!

Polly
Hi Polly,

Your tech camp was probably quite awhile ago, but maybe you're still looking for neat new tools? I did a Web 2.0 presentation for teachers this summer and built a wiki to go with it. I keep adding to the wiki as I find new tools. The link to the wiki is: http://techitupwebtools.pbwiki.com For the record, my favorite web 2.0 app is Voicethread http://www.voicethread.com It is absoulutely amazing and the kids love it!

Tracy
Tracy, thanks so much for sharing your wiki! Terrific list of resources. Very helpful. I'm still doing 'tech camp' sessions and will definitely share your wiki with them.

Polly
Thanks, Polly! I just started my Podcasting class this past week, so I am hoping to have some podcasts uploaded around February 1 on the blog! I will also be putting them on iTunes....if I can't get them to work on the blog, I will put a link to the iTunes shortcut to the podcasts via the blog! :-)
what was the results?

Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.

The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
with no time to drive to a university, offers a convenient and effective path to school library certification. For detailed information and contacts please refer to the Fulfilling the Promise homepage, at http://libweb.mansfield.edu/promise/, or contact Cynthia Keller, Department Chair ckeller@mansfield.edu
