I am lucky enough to have a great technology department in my district. Throughout the year they have been very supportive of my library program and we have received great tools such as the iPad, 7 Nooks, a new computer lab, an ELMO, and some flip cameras.
However, I was offered the opportunity to receive even more technology and am to make my request as soon as possible. I am thinking of asking for more iPads so that teachers can borrow them, but are there any other technologies out there that you think would be an asset to a school library? My building is K-6.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Other technology ideas would be to get iPods. Although they are smaller, they are cheaper so you would be able to get more technology available to lend to teachers. Laptop computers would also be of great use for the entire school. You can upload specific softwares, and make them available to the staff. Its great to hear that you have such a supportive technology department.

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.
The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
with no time to drive to a university, offers a convenient and effective path to school library certification.
