A community for teacher-librarians and other educators
Kindergarten Author Studies?
I am looking to do an author study with my Kindergarteners soon. I have already done Beatrix Potter and their teachers have done a lot with Mo Willems. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking to read some engaging stories and utilize technology. It will be for an observation.
I would greatly appreciate any ideas!

Do you do poetry with your kindergarten children? I have lots and lots of poems for younger children on my website which you can find by Googling JOSIE'S POEMS. If you have a whiteboard, it is easy for the children to read the poems and many have my voice recordings. I also have done many Skype visits to classrooms where the children are doing my poems. I'd love to do this for any of you.

I loved doing Leo Lionni with kindergarteners. They can relate to the awkwardness of some of the characters. A good website to look at is Leo Lionni; a resource guide for teachers.

Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012
In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification.
