Where to donate old library books?

This was my first year as a Media Specialist at the high school level in a very out dated media center. Before the end of the year I have been weeding out many of our old books. The previous Media Specialist donated all of her used Star Trek and Star Wars books (there are probably at least a thousand in the library!!), the problem is no students check them out, they take up so much room and they really need to go! So I'm looking for a place to donate them, but I can't really find a good place. Any suggestions on organizations that really need new books??

Have you thought about having a book sale?ure that some of your students are star trek and star wars fans. We had someone who used to take our good deletes to a prison library. Perhaps you can find a prison librarian who would like the books.
