I teacher kindergarten in Western Mass USA and we're in the eastern time zone. Looking to Skype with other early childhood classrooms. Don't be shy ;)

I am the librarian for a K-12 school district in rural Iowa and I often coordinate Skype sessions, pairing our teachers with other classrooms around the world. I'm up for anything!

Hello Kathy K

Today was our last school day for 2010. We'll be back on Jan. 3rd. What blocks of time do you visit with kindergarten classes? If we can jive in our schedules, I would be happy to Skype with your kids.

My experience has been that a few questions from each side, and answers rehearsed ahead, work well; maybe add in a song from each side if desired is plenty of interaction each time. Let me know if interested.

Hello,

I am new to TLNING and was motivated to join because of this group. I teach preK- 8th and our schedule is flexible. We are a parochial school in NE, CST. My students are very eager to SKYPE. We purchased a webcam but have not yet connected with another classroom. Please let me know if you would be interested in setting up a SKYPE session at any grade level (K- 8th), Thanks!

I love skype. My high school book group has skyped with book groups far away and some in our area too. My group is part of the YALSA YA Galley Program, so we are reading the newest of the new. Would love to talk books with kids from other schools.

Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.

The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
with no time to drive to a university, offers a convenient and effective path to school library certification. For detailed information and contacts please refer to the Fulfilling the Promise homepage, at http://libweb.mansfield.edu/promise/, or contact Cynthia Keller, Department Chair ckeller@mansfield.edu
