What is the name of your school?
Cynthia White is an educator with over 20 years of teaching experience; she teaches English in the public schools of Virginia. Ms. White is an avid reader. writer, and blogger. She has served as a Board Member on the James River Writers, which is a nonprofit organization that builds community by connecting and inspiring writers and readers in Central Virginia. Ms. White is also a supporter of the arts, and served on the Board of Sycamore Rouge Theatre as secretary and then president. Sycamore Rouge is a professional theatre for the community; whose mission is to use the performing arts to promote creativity, to help revitalize Petersburg's downtown area, to strengthen the communities it serves through communal arts experiences, to stimulate the hearts and minds of the community, and to educate the community and its children.

Ms. White also is a member of of both the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALS) and the American Library Association (ALA). In addition, Ms. White maintains membership in Richmond Area Reading Council (RARC), which is a professonal organization that promotes literacy in Virginia. Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.

The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
with no time to drive to a university, offers a convenient and effective path to school library certification.
