- I am a former elementary school librarian turned high school librarian...interesting shift. I have been in school librarianship for the past three years and I have focused on the importance of interactive read-alouds at the K-5 level as it relates to ongoing literacy initiatives in my high needs district. Specifically, the teaching of reading comprehension strategies during read-alouds such as questioning, inferencing, visualizing, rereading and more. I participated in valuable professional development that highlighted the application of these instructional strategies. It was the best investment of my time professionally with regards to teaching reading and literacy instruction in the library. I have just started a new job in September 2009 at a high school in Guilderland, NY. Onward and upward!
