I did attend the MEMO conference this year, and am a member, but otherwise have been inactive in the organization. Not many men in the profession, though, so guys like me stick out. Friends School of Minnesota (FSM) is the only Quaker school in the Upper Midwest except for Scattergood Friends School, a Boarding High School in rural Iowa. FSM is at 1365 Englewood Ave, in St. Paul, just a few blocks East of Hamline University. It is a progressive K-8 school that just turned 20 years old. This is my 13th year of working there, but only my 5th as the half-time Library Media Specialist. The other 1/2-time, I am the special events coordinator and volunteer manager. You may have heard of our enormous plant sale that takes place at the State Fair Grandstand over Mother's Day weekend. That is the largest event under my charge, and the most likely reason that people have heard of the school. That should answer your questions, in a nutshell.

Hello,

I'm guilty of not checking in here very much! My excuse is that my online teaching keeps me hopping! But, I did check in, I did look at your blog on boys/reading. I will share it with our district's reading specialist!
Thanks.

Hi Mary Alice,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,

This is such an adventure. This will be such a valuable tool in the fall when I start my job and have a myriad of questions!

Hi Mary Alice,

Yet another electronic thread I am connected to. It's a Brave New World, isn't it? Take care.

Mary Alice,
Classroom 2.0 is another Ning of users of Web 2.0 tools in the classroom. It's a larger, more active Ning since it includes educators across the various content areas. You might want to check it out.

Hi Mary Alice,
I set up a group on the Ning Classroom 2.0 to be used with the new class I'm writing. Before I got it marked as private, I had three people request to join the Ning. A couple of them I gave a plug to take the class, but no response. :-)
