Neil Brewer ...Educator/Author/Musician

Profile Information

Hometown:
New Albany, Indiana
What is the name of your school?
After learning with and from 6th graders for 20 years, I've taught for the past ten years (and learned even more from upcoming teachers and graduates) at Indiana University Southeast. I was honored to receive the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship for an adventure I wrote for students all across Indiana and beyond, and I now share the poetry of my book, The 8 O'Clock Bell, (along with its accompanying music) in schools and for conferences throughout the nation. It's all about everything that has happened to all of us in school - from its humor to its most poignant moments - and I can simply guarantee a visit will result in the best author/musician experience your students and colleagues have ever experienced ...or send me home checkless.
100% of my performance fee goes to The Harvard University Stem Cell Institute to put an end to Muscular Dystrophy, and you can read about Harvard's support of this poetic and musical endeavor in its newsletter below.
On another note, one of the songs from my album, "Neil Brewer and Friends are Back in School", went to #1 on Sirius XM Radio, and has now been made into a 3-D cartoon by the tremendously talented animators at Nightmill Studios in Denver. Enjoy it here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbV2OCr5itI&feature=share

Please see the reviews from educators and many more, and you can download music and The 8 O'Clock Bell for Kindle, iPad, Nook and Sony eReaders.
Thank you, and I look forward to performing for your kids and colleagues!

Hi Neil,

thank you for the invitation!  I and my two kids love "Three kids in a car". We're big fans of KPL too.  If you're ever in the DC area let me know.  You'd be a big hit at my school!   Nancy

Glad to meet you. I have a family full of Crohn's so I know something about what life is like with chronic illness. Good luck with your charitable contributions for muscular dystrophy. You are to be commended and admired.

Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.

The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
with no time to drive to a university, offers a convenient and effective path to school library certification. For detailed information and contacts please refer to the Fulfilling the Promise homepage, at http://libweb.mansfield.edu/promise/, or contact Cynthia Keller, Department Chair ckeller@mansfield.edu
