Help!!! At a loss for a christmas book that is also a movie

Last year I hosted the first donation book fair and we did a polar express theme.  I built an entire train in the back of the library and watched Polar express with hot chocolate and cookies.  It was a HUGE hit...This year I am at a total loss of what theme to do.  I wasnt something that isn't overdone, like for instance The Grinch.  The requirements are it has to be G or PG, entertaining for ages k-5, semi short (around 90 mins), Christmasy, and have a book that goes along with it.  Ugh....any…See More

I am finally getting around to catalouging some books that I bought at the end of last year.  I also purchased some really cool hard laminate covers for my paperback books that will get used heavily, and also some plastic covers for the paper covers for the books.  As I was processing them I got to the place where I entered the price and thought for a moment about how much each of those hard laminate covers cost, and how much time I had spent fixing the covers.  So instead of plugging in the…See More

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.

The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
