A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

My wife and I produced a video for the Interwrite Learning contest and lo and behold we are in the finals! This is a $15,000 contest to get her some badly needed technology for her classroom. Problem is we are in the public voting stage of the competition and up against much larger districts with a lot of voting power. If you have liked my videos I ask that you go register and vote for her video. I admit that I am biased in this case, but I know how much she needs this equipment and her video was produced with all of her ordinary classroom kids: not the gifted and talented some of the other entries :) Feel free to leave her feedback as well.

Anyway, here is the link to her video. You need to register following the link at the upper right. You will then "join" and Interwrite will send you a link back to vote. I appreciate any support out there and ask that you spread the word. -END OF SHAMELESS PLUG-

This is neat. Did she win? :-)

No, unfortunately we just didn't have enough votes to win this contest. We were glad to be finalists in a group of over 300 though. We did get a custom colored Interwrite pad for being a finalist. We've done pretty well with some of our other videos since.

Your videos are fabulous and I love your glog book reviews. Would you be willing to share your process? Did you use Crazy Talk or some other program? Thanks for any information you are willing to share.

Mansfield University Scholarship Program – Begin in January 2012

In an ongoing effort to recruit a new generation of school library leaders, Mansfield University recently received a fifth Institute of Library and Museum Services (IMLS) grant to fund scholarships for its totally online School Library & Information Technologies Master of Education degree program with school library certification. If you know of an educator or non-certified librarian seeking school library certification, please pass along the news that we are still accepting applications for the spring 2012 semester.

The Master of Education program, ideally suited for working educators
with no time to drive to a university, offers a convenient and effective path to school library certification. For detailed information and contacts please refer to the Fulfilling the Promise homepage, at http://libweb.mansfield.edu/promise/, or contact Cynthia Keller, Department Chair ckeller@mansfield.edu
