Well, it's for us to experiment and find out how to use blogs! When I started my personal one, I was just exploring. Now I use it to keep in touch with family and friends. My children have blogs and post on them more often than on email. We share photos, even video clips. As far as the school ones go, the purpose of the professional one is to have discussions with the rest of you. I subscribe to Doug Johnson's wonderful Blue Skunk blog and feel that, though I've never met him, I have a colleague in Minnesota. I subscribe to others too, trying one or two at a time and changing now and then. I especailly love Roger Sutton's Read Roger blog from the Horn Book magazine.

Beyond cycling through with a peek at each blog and gaining new ideas - approaches and links - this is a great source for building a blogroll or del.ici.ous network. We could create a networking spark: for example swap creative commons photos or other collective topical feeds by targeting and using specific tags. Still thinking...

This is a great idea. Here is my blog, PageSpace found at http://hazzyblmt.blogspot.com. I created it last spring when I started the 23 things tutorial School Library Learning 2.0, sponsored and supported by the California School Library Association. I have started posting on it again when I have things to share.

My fledgling blog is becoming a place to "store" my "Random Thoughts" so I don't lose them.

I don't have one, but thanks for thinking of this topic. As others have said, there is a wealth of information out there. I'm going to have to digest this list a little at a time!

I've ignored advice about using one identity across platforms in order to build a "brand."

I use different names and ids for separate audiences - four (school community, educator, media specialist and personal - which includes some business interactions.). This approach helps me to organize usernames and passwords. Also, I can control connections between separate sites.

That way, I can have multiple sites at an application such as "LibraryThing" for different audiences, without worry about getting wires crossed.

This system of multiple IDs has really helped me stay organized as access to additional tools keeps expanding. It is fairly new and definitely a work-in-progress.
