Sorry about that...Regarding monitoring technologies in our media center, we recently underwent a software upgrade and now have "reimaging" installed on each desktop and laptop computer. This means that when a student logs off, the computer is reset to it's original settings (and software loaded) each time. So, they might download games, for example, but the game will disappear each time they log off. Let me tell you, this has absolutely caused some frustration for certain students who love to download programs. Others seem to accept that this is the way it is at the current time. I walk the media center floor frequently, but you probably know yourself how good students are at switching screens when they don't want you to see what they are doing. What amazes me is how quickly they are able to get around the filter and to access their favorite sites - especially Facebook. Our district, however, is equally fast! So whatever code, hack or site works today for them will not necessarily help them out at all tomorrow! I've been in labs with Net Op, but having this monitoring software isn't a possibility for district school libraries at this time...
