Hi - I'm a middle school librarian in a smallish rural school outside Albuquerque. Love xeric gardening and dogs! Haven't read an "adult" book in years - YA fiction is the best!
I am pleased with changes that are happening this year. I do in fact have adequate planning time this year. I believe that I have proven my beneficial purpose in our school. I am teaching more than ever, and feel an excellent connection with my faculty this year. I think my positive spirit won out, and now things are back on track. My position in the school is very different from 5 years ago, and that is good/bad for me. I have accepted the changes and I feel contentment. The part that I dislike most was not liking the job I had once loved. I enjoy going to work again, so I am please with that. I don't take much work home, but I always spend lots of computer, journal reading and think time at home to get ready for each week.
My best librarian friend and I laugh together about the situation we experience often... Teachers who seem desperate to "get into the library." We know we are successful because there isn't time enough in the day to fit all the needs of the building.
