Profile Information

Hometown:
San Angelo, TX--Currently live in El Paso, TX
About Me:
I'm the Lead Librarian at Socorro High School. My library serves about 3,000 students and 200 teachers, contains around 45,000 books, and has a staff of two full-time librarians, and four aides.

I have a MA in history from the University of Texas at El Paso, a MS in library science from the University of North Texas, and I'm currently pursuing a MS in computer information systems from Tarleton State University.

I wanted to briefly update my profile. I'm still working on my CIS degree. I should finish in May. I'm trying to decide on what I'm going to do after that. For more important news, my little girl started kindergarten.

The Circulation Desk

This is a bad picture, but it shows the low stage we use in the sunken area of the library for open mic nights.

This is obviously the Periodicals Sections

This is one of the study areas in my Reference Section

This is the library's computer lab. We call it the Electronic Resource Center to distinguish it from the other labs that one can access from the library.

It will be made available to librarians across El Paso. Has anyone done anything similar. I would love to get into contact with someone who has a similar c… Continue

Tools

I'm going to spend my first blog talking about two tools I like. The first is Bloglines.com. If you are new to RSS, this is a great place to start. I follow about ten different blogs from this site. It makes it easy for me to keep up with my favority topics without having to look in different places.

Another tool that I'm really starting to like is Moodle. Moodle is an open-source classroom management system that allows you to offer classes online. I'm still developing some information…
