Does anyone out there have a music collection in your library students/staff can check out? My school's director has tasked our band directors and myself with deciding how to proceed with developing a musical collection for the media center. He's referring more to music that has educational enrichment (in his mind that's classical), but there's been some argument already from a staff member that he sees value in some of Queen and Pink Floyd's music. This is beyond my area of expertise as I enjoy music, but I'm not an expert in this area. Thanks!!

We don’t have anything extensive, so I can’t help with starting a physical collection. Would your administration be open to purchasing a subscription to Freegal? That allows members to download a certain number of songs each month directly to their devices. I think it’s a Sony product and there are something like 7 million songs available. That would take away the pressure of having to make selections and probably offer a much broader range than most physical collections. Not sure of pricing. I have to be clear...I've never used Freegal; and it's only coming to my head now because I recently spoke with a librarian who does use it.
