Hi! I need a bulletin board idea - and fast! I'm at the end of my practicum and my site supervisor asked me to make a bulletin board. I want to do a winter theme so she could leave it up for awhile. It has to be quick and simple because I don't have a lot of time to get it done. It is an elementary school media center. Thanks!

On a banner or with big lettering, go with some catchy saying from a bookmark, like:
Books Are Snow Wonderful!
Chill Out with a Good Book
A Good Book is Like a Warm Winter Friend
Then you can decorate with whatever you have--lots of white snow, blue sky, snowflakes (if you have an Ellison Press), polar bears, snowmen, penguins, children bundled up, etc. Or, (maybe AND), scan or print covers of "winter books." The picture books are easy. Chapter books are a little harder. Here are some that might be in your library (it's important that any book covers depict books that are actually available, because someone will ask):
Brian’s Winter (Paulsen)
Snowbound Mystery (Warner)
Judy Moody & Stink: The Jolly Holiday (MacDonald)
Snowboarding on Monster Mountain (Bunting)
Picture books and beginning chapter books are prolific and many.
Hope this helps,
Donna
Donna - Thanks so much! I ended up coming up with something but I printed your idea to keep in my files. I will be looking for a job and need as many ideas as I can get. Is it ok if I share this with the other woman in my class?

Thanks again!
Loren
Of course.
I have a snowman with "A Blizzard of Books". My parent volunteer has a snowman reading a book jacket that says Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the library is so delightful. Beth K
Beth,

Thanks for responding to my post. I am just getting back to my e-mails. I made a copy of your idea and I am keeping it for future use.

Thanks again,
Loren
a great Idea that you can use in the future is to have facualty and staff bring in a old photo of them from there younger years( you make a copy ) and make it a contest of guessing which teacher or staff member the picture is of. I get local places to donate things as prizes. These are my most popular BBoards
Gay,
Thanks for responding to my post. I made a copy of it to use in the future.
