School won't start for us until after Labor Day, and I'm already getting many requests for time in the library's computer labs. Our English teachers have done great things with technology integration, and they are well organized, so they're ready to book time in the labs. I want to support their work, but I still need to provide equitable access for other teachers and departments. I'd love to hear others' thoughts on how to deal with this.

I have the same problem with those organized English teachers! I explain that until school officially starts and I have access to requests from Administration for scheduling Guidance and Testing dates, I can only tentatively schedule their requests. Then I also send out reminders to all the department chairs to mention library lab and mobile laptops in their first meetings. Very important - requests should be sent by email as soon as possible for the fall semester. Teachers are welcome to stop by and visit with the librarian regarding their plans but they should always follow up with an email request. Those pesky scribbled sticky notes seem to vanish during those first days of school!
Thanks Linda. It sounds like we're in the same boat. I do share the library calendar through outlook so our teachers can see what's available and then email me. That has helped me stay on top of those requests!
