A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

I'm currently doing an inquiry on how teacher-librarians can advocate and integrate technology into the library program as a way to bridge the transition from a traditional library to a learning commons model.  Reflections, suggestions and ideas are welcome which will support my research.  I have found case studies for high school libraries but none for elementary libraries.  The OSLA document "Together for Learning: School Libraries and the Emergence of the Learning Commons" , Carol Koechlin's article "Leading the Way in the Learning Commons". and From Library to Learning Commons: A metamorphosis" by Vaerie Diggs are very insightful.  Your expert observations and reflections on the following two questions would be very helpful.

1.What organizational changes are need to support the transition of the school library to a learning commons model?

2. How can advocating and integrating technology into the library program initiative and sustain the learning commons model?

Hi -- This summer our elementary school is moving the technology lab to combine library and technology and create a Learning Commons. At this point we are slowly finding our way. I would be very interested in learning what you find. And I would be happy to share our progress with you.
Amy,

I would be happy to keep you informed. I am currently completing my research project and would be happy to send you some links with practical info etc.
