My current Middle School Media Center services grades 6 - 8.  Next year, the 5th grade is moving to my building. I've haven't worked with 5th grade for many years.  Are there any "must have" novels, non-fiction and databases I should be adding to my collection?  Thank you.

I have fifth graders and I imagine as they gravitate toward middle school fiction that the book titles would be the same.  Still some of the popular books are: Lightning Thief, Warriors, Maximum Ride, Mysterious Benedict Society, Alex Rider, graphic novels and so on.  I'm sure as you come to know your students' reading interest you will fill in the "gaps".  Good luck!
Thank you for your response.  I already have those titles on my shelf, so I feel a little better. I'm hoping for the best.
