A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

Does anyone have any teacher librarian conference dates/locations they can recommend for me this year? After teaching for 20 years in primary, I have just accepted a posting as the librarian for a K-12 school (338 students) in a northern B.C community. I am willing to go anywhere there is a good one! Your insight and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Donna

I've heard the MEMO conference is not to be missed. I haven't been yet, but several others in the district went last year and raved, so I'm on my way this October. It's held here in the Twin Cities, MN.

I attended the Computers in Libraries conference twice--once as a special librarian and once as a high school media specialist. The conference was enlightening and useful for both.

For media specialists, the have conferences within a conference: Internet@schools East and West.
Every so often Washington State and Oregon have a joint conference. Each normally has their own, but this is the year they get together, and it is wonderful!! It'll be held the 2nd week of October in Portland, and they are still taking registration. Go to the Washington Library Media Association website for more info!
I would reccommend ISTE NECC 2009, in Washington, DC from June 28-July 1, 2009.

Dear Susan,

Could you elaborate on why this is a good conference. It will be very expensive for me to go to since I am in France. Thanks.
Carol
