A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

Hello There!
I am new to teaching and am beginning my educational career in the library. I am having difficulty finding a starting point. However, some of your previous discussions have been rather helpful :)

My school is very small Pre-K-6th grade and only has about 130 students in attendance. The library is in horrible shape and the previous teacher left nothing but a big old mess.

I wanted to know if there was a calendar of library events that take place throughout the school year, I could reference. I'm hoping that it could give me ideas on scheduling monthly activities for the students as well as decorating tips. Any help or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've been looking for a resource like this as well. Demco has an online calendar with events listed.
Hope this helps.

I recommend subscribing to LibrarySparks. It's a great help for the elementary library with lots of ideas and resources. It also has a calendar in each issue that shows important dates as well as some obscure but usable fun dates to include in you calendar. I've used that a lot.
