A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

Hello all, I have a large interview project for my masters in library and information technology. Can you take the time to answer one or more of the following questions? (This is just a part of my project questions but these seem to fit the subject of this group.)

If you prefer, you could email me at carissa.cotta@vcsu.edu    Thank you so much in advance!

1. Explain what types of staff development the LMS should be providing for your teachers. (For example, how are they encouraged in their use of the databases provided by the district and/or state?)

2. Explain how the school library can have a good cooperative relationship with the local public library. Give examples of quality relationships. Explain if your school has this type of relationship or why it doesn’t.

3. Explain how the LMS should acquaint students with the acceptable use of resources policies and ethical use of the Internet. Should the LMS help develop these policies and if he/she is not asked to participate, how could the LMS get situated to do this?

4. Explain what the best resources are to consult for evaluations of materials.

5. Explain what resources are a must for your professional library and defend the expenditure of budget money for this collection.

6. Explain which databases are most useful for students (as provided in your own location). Explain which ones are best for teachers.

7. Explain the best methods for teaching students to evaluate print resources. Do the same for Internet resources. What are some of the best strategies you have found and on which level do they work?

8. Explain how you keep up to date on new library resources, teaching methods, internet resources (including databases) and technology innovations that could be used in education. If you’re not now a librarian, how would you keep up on those resources?

9. Explain the best methods that could be used to inform the rest of the faculty about new materials, websites, and other resources.
