Hi International School TL's-

Last year I posted a note about the possiblity of sharing an author visit in the EARCOS Region and I heard back from a few of you. This year we are having NZ storyteller Tanya Batt come at the end of March (piggy-backing on Ann Krembs booking at ISBeijing- thanks Ann!)

I am also already looking ahead to the 2011/12 school year in hopes of securing an author early on. Does anyone out there have any suggestions or something in the works that I might be able to tag along on? We're looking for someone for next February/March.

Thanks for letting me know-

Michelle

Hi Everyone-

Just a quick note to see if any TL's in the EARCOS region would be interested in a visit by Timothy Basil Ering sometime next February/March 2012. Tim is the illustrator/author of several picture books and is the illustrator of Kate DiCamillo's Tale of Despereaux.

We are in the early stages of planning and haven't committed to anything yet but I wanted to check to see if any of you in the region would like to share expenses to bring him to your school.

Thanks for letting me know if this might be of interest to you-

Michelle

Dear Michelle and other TLs

I am a storyteller performer and educator who travels regularly to EARCOS region and will be on tour Nov- Dec 2011 and probably Nov - Dec 2012. I would be happy to coordinate a visit to your school with others in the region to bring down costs. If you would like more info - www.storiesinmotion.co.uk.

I would be very happy to put youin touch with other TLs I have worked with too.

But it would also as a visitng storyteller be great to know what TLs benefit most from our visits.

Do you prefer us to work one to one with a class to boost their language and literacy skills or give general larrger scale performances?

Any posts welcome!

Best wishes

Cassandra

Michelle,

Wasn't Tanya AMAZING!?! I was so thrilled by her visit--as was the entire school.

For next school year, we are going with illustrator/author Korky Paul (http://www.korkypaul.com/) for the first week in November. He's very organized and reasonably priced. Also, he's quite responsive and worth an inquiry. Hopefully it will go as well as his recommendations. I'm excited to experience an illustrator as I haven't as of yet.

I also know that Marc Levitt (http://www.marclevitt.org/)is very keen to visit schools. He came to ASB (American School of Bombay) twice while I was there. He is also very, very good. Students and teachers alike become mesmerized by his stories. He offers intensive workshops too which is nice. He'll negotiate for a longer visit if need by. The second time he came to ASB, he stayed for two weeks and worked just with the 7th grade.

I'm also working on trying to get Michael Buckley (http://www.michaelbuckleyonline.com/s/Howdy!/Howdy!.html) here for a day of assemblies. His book N.E.R.D.S. was on our Panda Book List, so we'd love to bring him for a day.

I'm always glad to see you get this conversation goin'. Thanks.

Ann
