A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

Hi Everyone-

I am hoping to connect with other librarians at IB schools in the EARCOS region. I am looking for any conferences/workshops/training opportunities that anyone might recommend for the upcoming school year.

Thanks for letting me know if anyone out there has any info-

Michelle,

I assume you have looked at the IBO-AP workshop schedule for the coming year, e.g., the librarian workshop in HK in October.

Our library network in Singapore is running a one-day conference -- Hands on Literacy -- on Saturday, November 13, 2010. The cost is just 125 SGD and our keynote speaker is Dr. Ross Todd. For more info, see www.handsonlit.com .

Interested in submitting a workshop proposal? The Call for Papers deadline is tomorrow (Aug 31).

Registration opens September 20th (after the workshop proposals have been sorted out).

There's good book shopping in Singapore -- and you could try to get some school library visits scheduled for either the Friday or Monday. Please consider coming. We are hosting a social event on the Saturday night for people coming in from overseas. And if you're on a budget, some of our network members have offered their spare rooms for the weekend.

Contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks Katie- I did already see the HK workshops on the IBAP website but a full IB workshop isn't really what I'm after right now. I am the only TL at my school and so feel a bit isolated at times.... am looking forward to connecting with other international school IB Librarians in the region in a more casual venue. A day workshop sounds perfect- will check out the Hands On Literacy page-

I can't see your email address on your profile page. Would you mind continuing the conversation via email? Mine is mrinker@isy.net.mm

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you-

Michelle
