GLBTQ materials and the School Library

Just recently we have had more and more middle school students declaring that they were GLBorT. I'm wondering if your middle school has added these materials to your collections?

I have been adding the few that I find that are middle school appropriate. I am very frustrated with this genre because it is often the high amount of drug and alcohol use in YA LGBTQ novels that push it over the edge into the realm of high school only.

I haven't seen the handbook, do you have a copy of that in your library? Last month some of the teachers and I talked about the YA fine line. What is appropriate for middle and what is appropriate for high school. LGBTQ did not even come up as a topic.
