A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

I recently came across The Education Podcast Network website, a community of podcasters that includes students, teachers, and other educators. I was amazed at how many schools are integrating technology in the classroom at this level.

Teachers are podcasting lessons and students are podcasting homework assignments. There are authors chiming in, English lessons online, after school clubs organizing on the web. I especially enjoyed listening to the 4th grade students from Countryside Elementary podcast stories they authored.

There is even a page devoted to information skills. Have you used this site? If so, please post a link to your project. Otherwise, how might teacher librarians use this site to promote information literacy? It seems as if the opportunities are endless.

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for the link. I will be forwarding the information to my staff. I have been trying to get my school interested in Web 2.0 technology but never came across a suitable resource for educational podcasts.

Hi Michelle,

I'd like to thank you as well for this link. It is difficult to find a community of podcasters that is appropriate for the use of my seventh graders. This will definitely come in handy for my classroom.

Great resource. Thanks!
Information skills huh? I haven't looked at the ed podcast network forever....I'll jump right in!
Great discussion starter!
I like the WIT podcast especially for the 2.0 tools! I have a few podcasts that I sync to my MP3 for the ride to work and my son's 30 min. ride to school. We love Science Fridays and Nat'l Geo! I also love that I can add them to my Google Reader! I can plug in my MP3 to sync while at lunch and be ready for the ride home. This inspires me to make a podcast page for my staff and students to add to my library webpage. I would love to have a class some night with students and their parents to teach them how to sync a few good podcasts to their MP3s and iPods. I would love to have a wireless car radio that would sync up the feeds I like and have it all ready to go!
