Hello- I am an elementary school librarian who also also teaches technology to the students.  I am trying to visit a school that is similar in roles or a school where library tries to implement Web 2.0.  Currently, our library only has 4 computers so work here is difficult.  I am proposing a capital expense to create a learning commons to make implementing Web 2.0 easier.  I would love to visit a school that is in the PA, MD, DE or NJ areas to spark some ideas.  Please let me know if you would be willing to have me visit.  Thanks so much!

I am currently an elementary technology teacher who is working on my Masters in SLM.  I collaborate with our elementary media specialist on projects that use web 2.0.  Our last project with web 2.0 was creating book report Glogs.  We used edu.glogster.com and created a class of students so that we could monitor the students progress.  We did this with 100 5th grade students.  Here is a sample: http://sxty3bg.edu.glogster.com/lost/

In 3rd grade I am collaborating with the classroom teacher on Biographies.  In Media students choose a biography, in the classroom and technology they research the person, and in technology they create an "Avatar" that looks like the biography person.  We then put the Avatar into a program called "Pixie" where we could create a picture background and record audio about the person.  You could also use the Avatar to create a podcast if you don't have the Pixie application.   We used this website since it was not blocked in our district:

If you would like to come and visit my technology class, you will see how it works.  I am on a cart with 30 Mac computers and travel from room to room once a week.  My content comes from collaborating with either the classroom teachers or the media specialist.  Here is my email address: jyarn@hcpss.org

Paula-Web 2.0 is simply a way to share information via the web- in schools it would allow students to collaborate on a same document or presentation.  There is alot on the web.  One link you might try is: http://sjlibrary23.blogspot.com/

I have used Glogster edu with my students and voicethread and google docs.  There is Prezi and Sliodeshare and new tools everyday.  Hope that helps.  Start small.  Try one out and get comfortable with it.

Good luck.

I am a LMS in a K-5 school. I am new to this group and I don't know a thing about Web 2.0! I have read a few posts here. I have applied for a job at a school in another district and on the library website it says they want to start using Web 2.0 (the school is K-8). I need to know something about it. Where should I start?  Is there a website I can go on? About 3 months agos I asked our computer person about it and she didn't know anything. I thought it was just for seconday schools. But after reading the posts from this group I see that's not correct. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
