The Webb School in Bell Buckle, TN

Founded in 1870 by noted scholar William R. "Old Sawney" Webb, The Webb School is the South's oldest continuously operating boarding school. We offer a college-preparatory education for grades 6-12. Our small private boarding school community comprised of 320 boarding school and day school students and emphasis on honor truly creates the Character of Home. The 150-acre campus is located in a rural setting 50 miles southeast of Nashville.

The William Bond Library at The Webb School
The library houses over 30,000 volumes & provides access to print and electronic periodicals. There are computers to research its collection and the Internet. The building is wireless and students can print from laptop PCs

Hannah's Educational Philosophy
It is my desire to connect with learners as individuals to provide for differentiated learning styles and ultimately facilitate self-motivated, life-long learning. By connecting with learners, I hope to understand and to be understood. To connect I must always be aware of my learners needs and to use the idiom “wavelength”. I will treat learners as individuals. Each learner is a unique person. I will by no means stereotype a learner by choice of friends, or socio-economic background. I will provide for differentiated learning styles. I acknowledge that there are multiple learning styles and I will provide for all learning styles without partiality towards my own learning style. Rather than simply informing of skill or information through lecture, I will find and develop ways to facilitate or “make easy” the learning process. I will encourage self-motivated learning. Learning that is moved to action with internal incentives as opposed to external incentives. I will promote life-long learning. I will help learners to continue learning for a lifetime.

Greetings Hannah,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen
