I put in my application

I have finally "gotten" up the nerve to put in an application for a teacher-librarian job. We have a new school opening up in our district, and I am really excited about it now. I haven't wanted to put my application out yet, because I am feeling guilty about leaving my present job (one that I love). However, if I got this job, then I could still be at my job for the beginning part of the year and have everything set up for my students, then leave. I have some how justified this in my mind as… Continue

Greetings Kirsten,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Kirsten,
I just officially got the library job at my school yesterday and am feeling a little guilty and sad about leaving my classroom, especially knowing many of the up-coming kids that I absolutely adore. So I can relate to your feelings. Good Luck!
