"Kings of Colorado" by first-time novelist David E. Hilton (A, historic fiction, "Lord of the Flies" meets Cormac MacCarthy, brutal but realistic)
"Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet" by Jamie Ford (B++, historic fiction set in WWII era San Francisco)
"Life As We Knew It" by Susan Beth Pfeffer (B++, apocolyptic tale, couldn't put it down!)
"The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman (B, creative yet vaguely Potter-ish, fun beach read)
recently Audible'd & recommend:
"Bossy Pants" written & read by Tina Fey (B+, laugh out loud in some places, cringe in others, a must-listen vs. read: her inflection and comic timing are not to be missed)
"Stories I Only Tell My Friends" written & read by Rob Lowe (A, Why you should listen vs. read: who knew he was such a spot-on impressionist? He's articulate and insightful, SO much more than a pretty face, but man, is he still pretty...)

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
