Greetings Teena,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Hi Teena,

Things are getting crazy now that it's nearing the end of the year--we're mid-project in almost all my grade levels and I could always use extra help with our tech projects! Some days I feel like I'm just running in circles. :) Is there a certain grade level you're interested in seeing in action? I work side-by-side with another librarian on three days of the 6 day cycle, she covers the older students (4-5, and the MS) so if you come on one of those days you'll get more "bang for your buck" with your visit--two librarians in one! Let me know what days/times you're thinking and we'll see if we can set something up!

Hi Teena,

I am Mary's daughter! I thought you looked familiar.
I graduated in February 2008 from UB--I actually worked for Windsor for a year prior to graduation (I started my position in lieu of student teaching--ack!). After a year in Windsor (I was K-5, two buildings) an opportunity at Chenango Forks opened up for a K-3 position, and that's where I am now, with my second year working and my first year at Forks drawing to a close already. I LOVE it at CF, the students are adorable and the staff is just awesome. Where are you at school? Are you close to graduation?

I'll head over to your wiki and check it out today--you're so right, we librarians are a rare breed and need to stick together! :)

Hi Teena! I'm currently working as a librarian in the Binghamton area. I'm new to this Ning, so I thought I would say hello to a fellow Binghamtonian! :)
