Greetings Debra,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

I am a preschool librarian who has been asked to sit on a school district committee that is looking into the book TTYL. I would be interested on any feedback from middle school librarians as to their opinion on having this book in their collection.

I does sound like our careers have been very similar. I have changed my very small library to some extent. There just isn't much money for remodeling so I have to do what I can to make it as pleasant as possible. Many of the students I have at the high school were my former elementary students, therefore, we already have a bond. I love my kids and my job.

Hello, Debra! I am a High School Librarian at a small rural school (Johnson Co. Westside) in central Arkansas. I love my job. I love my kids. I was an elementary teacher for 25 years. Didn't really know what to expect from high school students, but they are wonderful.

Hi, Debra! I'm a K-12 Librarian but usually have some middle school classes. They are a strange and wonderful age; they keep me young and age me simultaneously.
