I've started a Quixotic project for this school year.  I'm going to review one YA book a day for every school day.  We start school early, so we've already been back a week.  I got ahead of my reading this summer, so I should be able to keep up.  

I'm doing the reviews on Instagram.  I take a selfie with a book covering my face.  Then I give a super short review.  I'm hoping it turns into a way students at my school can get suggestions for books.

My first day back in a library was great.  Met a lot of great kids.  We have some really prolific readers with some pretty eclectic tastes.  I love that! 

Other than that, got my online calendar set up so that teachers can schedule library time via the website.  I also created an online collaboration form.  That should really simplify things for planning.  I hope it does anyway.

I'm going to announce my plans for the library advisory committee today.  I'll post how well it went…

Today is my first day back.  I'm really excited.  There is so much to do here, but it should be a lot of fun.  First major thing I need to get done is create my library advisory committee.  After that, we will really need to update my vision and mission.  If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I'm currently using Moodle to create a professional development course about Web 2.0 technologies. I'm using a topic structure for my modules. Each module will last a week. I have five modules planned: blogs, wikis, RSS, social bookmarking and mashups, and podcasts and images. I'm creating the course for the El Paso Area Libraries consortium. I'm going to spend my first blog talking about two tools I like. The first is Bloglines.com. If you are new to RSS, this is a great place to start. I follow about ten different blogs from this site. It makes it easy for me to keep up with my favority topics without having to look in different places.
