Name of Your School / Library / Organization:
I'm all about stories and sharing stories. I've made my career in publishing -- working with the most talented people I know: authors, illustrators, publishers, teachers, librarians, booksellers -- readers!
Library, School, or Professional Website:
http://www.thepicnic-basket.com
The Picnic Basket book blog offers school and library professionals new and forthcoming children's and teen books with first-come, first-serve sample copies of books for kids of all ages. Read the books, then post your reviews here for your colleagues to read. We send you free books; you tell us what you think. No good having a good children's/teen book without sharing it with those of you who work with the kids they're written for

To receive a complimentary copy of any featured title, simply agree to write a brief review to share with our online community. Tell us what you loved about the book (or not) and why (or why not). Was it savory, sweet or sour? Go to the site and, to join our intrepid band of online reviewers, click on the "Order your reviewer's copy now" section of each post and send an email with your name, school/library, and address to that book's publisher.

The publisher will send you a copy of the book(s) -- either an advance reader's copy or a finished book -- and we'll eagerly await your review (we hope to see your review(s) within two weeks of your receipt of the review copy).

Your colleagues can't wait to hear what you have to say.

Greetings Deborah,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen
