Well, I just learned this very morning that the Supt. of Public Instruction's aide kept her word and I got a new 5-yr 900 Librarian-Media Specialist license. I'm submitting my application for subbing in Oshkosh this morning. Hopefully the document will arrive this week so I can photocopy and submit application for an ele. Librarian-Media Specialist position in Milton. It took the DPI bureaucrats over a year for me to get the 900 license. Now I need to complete an online 3-sem. credit graduate course with Fresno Pacific U that I put on hold until I got moved back to Wis. & obtained the license. But it should be all downhill now.

I have been off this Ning for some time and missed some good conversation! I wasn't taking a pass on Chavez, even though his gov't supposedly turned down my VISA. I had to come back to the States after working only 2 and 1/2 months. (It is possible it was a down-sizing on the part of the school; no way to know.)
I have stayed semi-retired, working from home for a wonderful company that librarians need to know: ART IN HISTORY, INC. (artinhistory.com) Check it out. Your schools will love it. I can send you a free catalog or even ask for a sample kit. Great for Humanities or for Language Arts, Fine Arts and Social Studies classes. I'm an educational consultant for them; great title, not much money. ;-)
I'm also an International coordinator for Aspect Foundation. So far, I have placed 2 students---both in our house!! haha Girl from Norway and boy from Italy---both arrive this week. We have had over 30 international kids live with us, so it is a pattern. (Last year--Venezuela and Moldova. The girl from VE surely had opinions about Chavez!!)
The sleep apnea is better, but I have problems with my hip. There are a bunch of new schools going up in my district; I'm thinking seriously about trying for a position the next year. A part-time job would be awesome!! Cool that it is your old job!! If I can get the hip thing fixed and catch up with what I've been missing technology-wise.........................
I'll be checking in more often!! I'm still on LM_NET for fun and especially to read Richie P's reviews!!

I retired as of last June. At the moment I'm working on an M.Ed degree, as I never had the time to do it while I was teaching. I also plan to work with my sister who is a distance learning consultant, and my husband and I are going to travel but NOT during peak travel times!

I will be retiring from the SC system after this school year. My husband is taking a job in Jacksonville, FL this spring so I hope to pursue another media specialist job in that area.

Well, I've been job hunting here in Wis. like crazy for over a year now. I've only had a couple interviews & no offers. I'm stuck substitute teaching in W Allis/W Milwaukee. The library sub jobs are great but the music sub jobs are the pits. Some of the most glaring examples of lack of parenting skills I've ever witnessed. Truly law suits waiting to happen. Despite the economic downturn though, I'm optimistic that I'll land something better soon.
