Greetings Kim,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Thanks Kim!! I'm all settled in D.C. :)

Do you have any contacts in this area that I could ask about open positions?

Have you moved to NOLA yet?? Let me know when you do! I have LOTS of food to recommend. :)

Oh wow! What a small world. I'm sorry that you didn't get very far, it seemed like the process was very competitive. I love the Learning Commons! It's a new model for our library, and we're working out all the kinks, slowly but surely. But the Loyola community seems to really be embracing it, so that's wonderful! Did you find a position somewhere else?

Thanks for the comment. I create the talking animations using a combination of a program called "Crazy Talk" and my Vegas video editing program. I combine the kids voices with their own drawings and chroma key them in Vegas. I can also add more movement and the effects in editing. I am adding more deos viafter the school testing gets done. Hi Kim! I am at Loyola right now, but I am moving to D.C. in May. However, I'd of course be happy to answer any questions you might have about NOLA! I'm jealous that you get to move here, it's a great town.
