Greetings Monisha Roy,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Hi Monisha
The teacher will come into the Junior Library with the class teacher. TThe class teacher works with the Teacher Librarian (this is another Librarian in our Library) on the topic they are covering and the TL does activites which support the topic. This may be reading a story, Internet research etc. I mainly look after Year 6 through to Year 12. If you have computer access for all the students you could set up a reading blog similar to the one I have done with Year 7. I am happy to explain anything further if you like. Cheers, Glenys

Hi Monisha--I work in a K to 12 Library in a suburb, Essendon, which is in Melbourne, Victoria. I have a couple of blogs with reading groups--www.glenyslowden.edublogs.org which is for Year 7 and also one for Year 10 at www.learningatlowther.edublogs.org. I have just set up a Ning which I am going to use with Year 8 where they will each have their own page and meet to discuss books--the address for that one is www.bookishatlowther.ning.com We don't run IB, MYP or PYP at our school. I haven't yet worked in a school with these operating. I will now have to check google earth to see where you are located. Cheers, Glenys

Hey Monisha

I'm compiling a list of the favorite books from famous people here. Would this be of any interest to you and your library patrons?
