I have something very vital to disclose with you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me via my direct email(susanwalphonsus001@gmail.com) for more details.

Greetings Nancy,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.

We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Hi Nancy! Thanks for joining the Information Fluency group. We're about to start a membership drive for the group via our website at http://21cif.imsa.edu .

I'm so glad you'll thinking and sharing with us!

I hope you had a great trip to Italy. It's been years since I was there. It's one of my long time goals to return someday!

Judi, I leave June 8 (school ends that day at 10:00 am and I board the plane at 6:00 - talk about a quick exit!) It's funny you should mention school libraries in Italy. I was thinking today that while I'm in Cortona (7 days) I would try to visit a school and see what kind of library they have. I also wonder if the kids are as into Harry Potter and Cornelia Funke books as my kids are? I sure will be taking pics and you have planted a seed ... I'll try to find libraries as I travel and create a library -focused / literature something.
Thanks for your interest.

Hi Nancy.
It's great to have your voice in the BCC group. I appreciate your desire to explore ideas related to collaboration. I hope this will be a great use of your summer.

And when is your trip to Italy? Have you thought about photos/experiences you can bring back to your school? Do schools in Italy have school libraries? (I guess I've never thought about that!) What do you know about Italian children's literature? (I love children's lit too - and I know nothing about Italian books!)

Best,
Judi
