Has anyone completed their MLIS online?  I did my graduate studies for my teaching certification online at Western Governor's University and it was a great experience.  I am currently Elementary and Secondary Teacher Certified, but do not yet have my Library Endorsement.

I have my own kids (1 elementary, 1 middle school, 1 high school and 1 college) and work as the LLC Director in a K-5 school full time.  I need something more flexible than the standard brick and mortar program.  Being impatient to get started - I would love something that has rolling admission as well. =)

Oh yes, and cost is a factor.  Soooooo...... am I asking too much?

Thanks for any insight any of you may have!

I have just begun a M.Ed. in Library and Information Technology. It may not be what you're looking for since it is not exactly an MLIS degree, but if you are interested in staying in the field of education, it might be perfect!

It met my requirements (and I did a lot of looking until I found a program that did): completely online, asynchronous classes through Blackboard, regionally accredited, no GRE if GPA is high enough, and reasonable tuition for graduate level coursework. Each class runs around $900. I haven't found much cheaper than that (and still met my other requirements)!  It is through Valley City State University in North Dakota. The staff has been incredible helpful and I have received personal attention. The next semester starts mid-May.  Hope this helps!

I will definitely take a look!  I am by no means set on an MLIS.  As a matter of fact I would prefer something either more education or technology focused.   I just have to make sure it would be accepted by Illinois for the library endorsement, which is definitely the most difficult certification state I have lived in so far. :-)

Thanks!!

I completed much of my masters coursework in the online format at Southern Connecticut State University. Recently, I began to look into certificates and found that Drexel offers most of their courses online.

As a mom of high school girls (at the time), it was important that my coursework didn't interfere with my mom time in the evenings!

Best of luck!
