Librarian/Principal Interview Etiquette

I have a concern and would like some feedback on how or if to proceed.

We are hiring for another librarian (co-librarian).

My principal has pre-selected interview candidates from the bank of applicants that submitted applications to our personnel department.  What do I say to suggest that as a professional, etc. I would like to see the complete list of applicants?

Additionally, when we hired our assistant, the principal allowed me to review the list of all applicants.  This time the principal has not allowed for my suggestion.

What would you do? I feel like the principal has pre-selected for me without my professional opinion.  As well, I know of some qualified individuals who applied and may not get an interview for unknown reasons.

Thanks for your feedback!

Probably the principal sees the assistant as your subordinate, but the co-librarian as your equal. The principal is looking at the faculty as a whole and considering who will do well to blend in yet compliment the school's team. That is the way I see it. Of course you would want to know all the applicants, but in the end it is the principal's decision. I would not make an issue of it. At best, hopefully you will be invited to help interview the candidates.
