I just thought I would let everyone in on a secret I found out today.  Sometimes the books come in and the spine label cover is so grimy and gritty with yuck it begins to loose it's sticky and falls off.  Well, that isn't a huge deal, but then it's so nasty I try to clean it before I put a new label on, and can't seem to get the ick off.  A teacher told me to use hand sanitizer!!  I tried it because I thought...why not?  And BLAM it worked wonders!  I actually cleaned the whole book with a little dab and it literally looked new.  No more fingerprints, or goo!  Just thought I'd share, only us weirdos would take such pleasure in a clean book cover!  (This was a hardback book)

Awesome!  I will try it tomorrow!
Great.  thanks for the tip.
Just be careful - I've tried this before and it took off some of the ink on the cover as well...
thanks, I'll keep that in mind!
Thanks for sharing, I will try the hand sanitizer trick.  I am with you; my student aides and I clean book covers often!  We are one of the cleanest places in the school!  Yah!
