Hey guys... My district is considering purchasing the Overdrive platform to begin circulating eBooks as part of our library collections. I am interested in the idea of creating a coop with other local districts, so that we are sharing the cost of the platform and building the collection together, rather than every district purchasing the platform over and over again... Is anyone doing this already? Seeking any advice!

Update...  Two other local districts have expressed interest.  If anyone out there has already created an eBook consortium we would love to learn from your experiences!

Two libraries in our area have this service and are not happy with it.  You might want to check with the Glenbrook High Schools and Lake Forest also in Illinois before you invest in this expensive service.

Hey Elizabeth - Thanks for the reply!  Do you know why they are unhappy?  Our local public libraries all have created a co-op together, and it gets a lot of use...

I heard that they are limited in the  number of books available for schools. (1 copy and kids have to wait a long time to get it), but I heard that from one of my reps.  You need to e-mail them directly and that is why I gave you the info. Best, Betty

Been doing some research since I posted.  Here is an article that Jessamyn West blogged about.

She writes at librarian.net

This consortium is moving AWAY from Overdrive due to the changes in the contract and pricing.

So, check it out thoroughly.
