Our high school library is considering sponsoring a week's worth of activities centered around the Hunger Games series and upcoming movie release.
As of right now we are considering a T-shirt and movie poster raffle to raise money for our library scholaship, as well as a themed bake sale.
We've seen a few board games and lesson plans floating around out there that we may decide to host.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?

Don't have any suggestions at this point, but sounds like a great idea. I'd be interested to see what others are doing.
Sound a great idea, there is a board game available on amazon :Training Days strategy Game as well as everything from T shirts/kneesocks/earrings studs/bookmarks/posters/wall calendar etc but have to organize some promotion/activities for all those non-readers to inspire them as well.Any further ideas would be happily received....end of week of course a movie visit with all the fans...am still thinking!
Are the cakes going to be "face cakes?"
Hi Claudia,
what "events"is your beloved head going to do...?I am looking to be inspired with other than the usual thought I mentioned above.
Claudia,
Plan your own idea or event, tell her what you are going to do, and then ask if she wants to coordinate her event with yours. It can just be a little thing like a drawing if you are on your own wthout much time. You could just make an announcement for the kids to stop by the library and put their name in the hat for 2 tickets to the movie. That way you aren't really stepping on her big plans (whatever they are) you are just creating a nice gesture and goodwill for the library. DO you have a faculty member whom you feel comfortable with that you can invite to help you?
Dictionary.com has some word games and vocabulary lists; I found one last week that was "SAT Vocabulary from The Hunger Games." If you click on the tab for Word Dynamo and do a search for Hunger Games, there are several different vocabulary games for students to play online.
I am going to do a trivia type competition for our Middle School students.. The winner and runners up will get tickets to the movie. I'll let the students bring lunch nto the library on that day and have some treats. Easy. The only problem is that I'm going to need TONS of questions!
Susan,
I can't find the board game. Do you know what it's called? Thanks. Patti

I've created a trivia contest over the book (in two rounds) using a Jeopardy template for PowerPoint. I have it, along with a flyer for advertising, available online on a new wiki I created. Anyone may modify and use it for noncommercial purposes. To access my materials, go to http://librarianresources.wikispaces.com/. I don't think the students will come across it because I chose not to have this wiki indexed by search engines in the settings. Hopefully, they won't come across the link on here either.
