Tutorial & Game: Checking the Accuracy of a Website

We've just posted a revised version of our Accuracy MicroModule.

We've also added a practice game that helps students practice:

finding embedded evidence
checking evidence for accuracy
triangulation of data

This is one of about 50 tutorials we have online. We'll be revising these resources over the coming year. We plan to add links to our new games and update the contents accordingly.

Hi Dennis,
I've just discovered the work that you all are doing through Ning and it's fantastic. I'm planning on using the games and tutorials with my students right away, and will let you know how it goes.
I've been struggling to bring home the evaluation message with my middle-school age students. Some of those who have caught on have echoed what seems to be the triangulation of data standard: they say that you need to check that what you read on the internet is backed up by at least one or two other sites. The problem is now that so many websites automatically pull their content from wikipedia, is that really a dependable measure? I have students coming back with wikipedia content they got from other sources which has since been removed from the original wikipedia page.
do you have any suggestions for explaining triangulation of data to students in the wikipedia age?

Tyson, I'm a Wikipedia fan. As one source (but not the sole source) I think its very strong, especially when it comes to pop culture information.
