A community for teacher-librarians and other educators

My administration (School Board office) has ordered and delivered 8 Paperwhite Kindles to me for the library. I am an elementary librarian with scheduled 50-55 minute classes. I am required to teach lessons reinforcing English and Math during that period. There are no policies about how they are to be used except that they cannot go home. Any ideas on how I should use them. Also I have to request books be loaded from the technology staff.

Pat:  I write poetry for children and have several books (not expensive) that could be read on your Kindles.  Google JOSIE'S POEMS and you'll find them.  Then a Skype visit to the library would be great too.  Josie

We are only allowed to download free books.

You should consult the curriculum of courses, to help them better.
Book/reading club maybe
Why do you reinforce math?

We are in School Transformation because our students have failed to meet State and Federal benchmarks in reading and math. Everyone including Art, Music, and PE teachers are required to incorporate reading and math skills in their instruction. I teach 6 classes a day and don't even have a daily planning period so there is no time in my schedule for clubs.
