Hello all :)

I am a brand new MLS librarian. My school purchased Librarian's Edge software for me to automate the library. I am wondering if anyone else here has used LE and what you think/thought about the program?

Thanks!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

I used to work for a school system in Karachi having 4 campuses. We have configured librarian's edge in all 4 campuses and are using it. My opinion about it is that it's good for cataloging and circulation in a school environment. Its another good feature is the availability of catalogue on intranet.

I assume you are using it with School Minder, which is a Student Information System.

Do let me know any specific thing you want to know.

Regards

Nooruddin
Thanks Nooruddin,

Yes we are using it with School Minder. The task of manually entering all of the books is quite daunting! I wish I could use the scanner to scan the ISBN code and then POOF all the information magically appears! Oh well. Once the process is complete, it will make the check-in/check-out process easier on all of us, and the OPAC will really assist all staff and students in knowing what we have in the library. Currently it is all manually searching the shelves. ARGH!!
Great, Consistency, Dedication and hardwork always wins. Initially for us it was painful, because we also went through the process of data entry of almost 36000 books. But then everything becomes smooth. I am sure it will be a smooth process for you and your school colleagues as well.

I hope you have seen my recent blog http://inspiringlibrarian.blogspot.com

Do take out some time to share your thoughts and experiences on it.

Cheers
