Another great resource for librarians is healthfinder.gov. I've heard their flash tutorial for librarians is especially helpful (http://www.healthfinder.gov/tutorial/default.asp#librarian).

fyi- they're also on twitter, @healthfinder

A great resource to find out how librarians and other educators are using Twitter is the Twitter 4 Teachers Wiki. Visit some of the librarians profile pages that you see listed. I am following 2 school districts who use Twitter as a communication tool with their parent community.

Hey Audrey - I am in a Primary School. We usually do my student podcasts in my office, as there is not as much background noise there. How wonderful that you can do a redesign! Do you currently have a media viewing room? That would be a great place for media production, as well - you could have some sort of sound dampeners put in there to reduce noise.

Has anyone used Museum Box? http://museumbox.e2bn.org/ A class of 9 honors social studies in my school were just guinea pigs for me. I couldn't really help them, b/c I was busy with English research papers, but overall the kids reactions were mixed. I am interested to see final outcomes, and hopefully I'll have some to share.

Rachel, are you in a High School? What sort of podcasts do your students do?
How do you produce them so that there is clarity and not lots of general noise in the background? I have been considering using these types of tools and how to provide adequate spaces the new designs of school classrooms and libraries.
We are in a situation where a complete refurbishment or renewal of our library is possible....just waiting....collecting as many ideas and advice as possible

Hey Jenny -
Our school uploads them to our teacher websites. We do make our podcasts freely available, but our students have to sign an Internet agreement at the beginning of the school year that gives us permission to do so. We just have to ensure that our students are not putting personal information in them.

How do others store podcasts? Do you just store the link to published podcasts freely available on the web?

Audrey -
I love the way you are using blogs with your parents to help induct them into your school environment. Great idea! Don't know Pivot... tell me more?

Hi Audrey Nay from Sandy Beach Public School(primary) NSW, Australia
I have been using delicious for 18 months now and find it a fantastic tool as I can access my favourites from any computer, anywhere.
I have tinkered with blogs-

The first one I started was for our general school community
http://sandylibrarian.blogspot.com/
Then I started one to help the teachers at our school http://www.audreynay.com
that were not confident to find their way around my website http://sandybeachpublicschool.googlepages.com/home for helpful "info"

and then I started on for our local TL's
http://chteacherlibrarians.blogspot.com/
My latest is a blog especially for parents-to help get them up to speed with some of the new stuff happening at our school and in our area
http://parents-partnersinlearning.blogspot.com/
We explored creating avatars with students last year
All fun and exciting-printout of results-Build your wild self
We have been exploring some animation- Bubblicious from Rex The Dog on Vimeo.
The students then explored Pivot animation-
We have been involveds this year with the Tooth Tally Competition-international and in its 12th? year.
Cheers Audrey
