Greetings Sara,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,

Mike McQueen

Sara,

Thanks for your comment! That statistic you mentioned is from the NSBA report on social networking.

I put it on my workshop wiki if you want to check it out. Has lots of helpful data!

Thanks for stopping by! Our 9th grade librarian went to your session and enjoyed it, by the way!

She's been telling me about your use of Goodreads.com. I'd love to know more.

It took me a while to find yours yesterday. Next to your name in the upper left corner of the screen is a little envelope icon. Click on it to get to your inbox.

With Amazon Prime you get free two day shipping on everything you order from Amazon for an annual fee. I order tons of stuff from Amazon (personal and professional), and I'm impatient, so I've been thinking about it for a while. The book club idea just gave me the excuse.

Have you heard of bookswim.com? It's like netflix for books. This morning I emailed them the suggestion of having a program for allowing people to rent multiple copies of the same book for book clubs. That would be so perfect.

Hey Sara!

this is so groovy! Wheeeeee!

I ordered The Luxe from Amazon, and I also joined Amazon Prime for the "free" two day shipping. Maybe we could work out a way to abuse that membership together. It's $79 a year, and is totally worth it if you order a lot of stuff and suffer from a little impatience. ;)
