Joyce Valenza, Cathy Nelson, and I will be leading a conversation about libraries at a conference this Saturday called Educon 2.0. The session, Extreme Library Makeover, will be a discussion of what Library 3.0 could look like at your school.
The session will be streamed LIVE on Ustream, at 2:30 Eastern time.

The global librarian group is highlighting Global Library 2.0 week next week, so I have started a post on my blog asking for us to share posts and ideas for bringing web 2.0 tools into school libraries specifically.

I had the opportunity to hear Joyce at NECC this past few days, and her presentation was incredibly inspiring. Her vision to share the web 2.0 tools and help students become information fluent infused the whole presentation.
She really stressed creating pathfinders for students, which I do, but she creates them on everything, and ties in many sources that I wouldn't have thought of. And she uses wikis for the pathfinders so that other teachers can add sources as well, which is quite…

I have something very vital to disclose with you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me via my direct email(susanwalphonsus001@gmail.com) for more details.
Have a nice day,

Greetings Carolyn,
I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.
We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

I co-presented with Bonnie Hauswer at HCLC and also enjoyed your workshop. I especially like the point you made about kids writing bad words on the bathroom wall with a Sharpie. No, we can't prevent kids from making bad choices, but that shouldn't keep us from using web 2.0 with them. I also will remember your statistic, that 71% of teens are already social networking. Thank you!
Best,
Judi
